Welcome to the Destin Fire Control District The Destin Fire Control District is committed to saving lives and preserving property throughout the area served by the Fire District. The District has grown to a full-time career fire department with over 75 employees, from its modest beginnings as a volunteer service formed in 1961 by a handful of committed community leaders. In addition to the mission of fighting fires, the Destin Fire Control District has evolved into several divisions that provide for the health and wellbeing of the residents and visitors to the District. One such division is our Advanced Life Support Service, launched on January 1, 2005. First response Advanced Life Support protection is provided for all medical and trauma calls in the District by highly trained paramedics proficient in the latest advancements in pre-hospital emergency medicine, including advance airway techniques, advanced cardiac care and specialized trauma care. The District holds these talented individuals to the highest standards of excellence in pre-hospital medicine. |

Our Beach Safety Patrol is another of our specialized rescue services. Launched in response to a tragic day in 2003 when 8 individuals lost their lives by drowning in the waters in and around Destin, the Beach Rescue Service is proud to declare no drowning deaths on the beaches while they have been on patrol. This is a direct result of the rigorous standards of certification in ocean rescue by the United States Lifesaving Association required of the members of the Destin Beach Safety Patrol. It is an honor to serve as your Fire Chief, and an honor to lead the brave men and women of the Destin Fire Control District family. Your safety is our concern. Sincerely, Chief Tuffy Dixon |
