Advanced Life Support Competition (ALS) Team
The Destin Fire Control District has established an Advanced Life Support team to compete in regional ALS competitions. These competitions include events held at the Florida Fire Chiefs' Association Fire Rescue East, held each January in Jacksonville and ClinCon, held each July in Orlando. The Destin team competed for the first time January 26, 2007 at Fire Rescue East in Jacksonville. The preliminary round scenario involved multiple patients in a very challenging setting with many aspects of the scenario designed to challenge the scene management abilities of the team. The results speak well for the members of this team who competed toe to toe, and beat many of the seasoned teams from around the state. The competitive future is bright for the Destin Fire Control District ALS Team.
